The BSS Tour in Katowice: people as the foundation of GBS/SSC development

Organized by Pro Progressio on November 27-28, 2023, The BSS Tour conference in Katowice brought together over 100 participants, focusing on people as the cornerstone of GBS/SSC business.

As the end of 2023 approaches, the BSS sector faces numerous operational and personnel challenges significantly impacting its growth dynamics. The conference in Katowice served as a platform to discuss the sources of these challenges and explore strategies needed to restore the sector's high growth rate. Practitioners and experts in the modern business services industry shared their experiences and ideas to enhance the functioning of BPO/GBS/SSC centers in the constantly evolving economic landscape.

During the substantive part of the event held at Hotel Monopol, various aspects of team management were discussed, ranging from issues related to generational differences to the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) and crisis management. The conference also addressed trends in nearshoring, friendshoring, and offshoring, presenting diverse perspectives on the development of companies in the SSC/GBS industry.

With over 100 participants, half of whom came from other cities in Poland, attendees also had the opportunity to discover the investment advantages of Katowice. The city has been actively building and strengthening its position on the map of Polish locations for the modern business services sector for many years.

One of the key conclusions of the conference was the emphasis on the need to develop R&D and CoE centers in the business services sector, in which Katowice, as a region hosting such centers, actively participates.

The networking evening preceding the conference took place at the Mały Kredens venue. The Municipal Partner of the conference was the City of Katowice, with Ahoy Career as the main sponsor, supported by partners: Cpl and HSBC. The event received media patronage from FOCUS ON Business.
